Nana Addo has endorsed me as the 'Dancehall King' – Shatta Wale

Renowned Dancehall Artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale has called on various media houses to stop referring to him as ‘self-acclaimed Dancehall King’.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Drive Time Show ‘Ofie Kwanso’ which is hosted by Jerry Justice, the ‘Ayoo’ hit maker expressed his dissatisfaction with the ‘self-acclaimed’ title journalists and bloggers use in referring to him.

Shatta Wale honoured an invitation by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to visit him at the Flagstaff House.

The President posted: “The “Dancehall King”, Shatta Wale, was at the Presidency this afternoon to pay me a visit, after I extended an invitation to him, on his birthday….”

This post which has since gone viral on social media, Shatta Wale said is testimony to the fact that his title has been endorsed by a higher authority and hence warned the media to stop referring to him as such.

“It has never happened before. I am now working like a President. The President has confirmed that the Dancehall King is me. You have to respect the law. If you don’t call me you will be arrested…,” he bragged on the show.

Nonetheless, Shatta Wale disclosed his meeting with President Nana was geared towards the enrichment of the Ghanaian Music Industry and to present to him the ‘keys to the City of Worcester’ that the Mayor of Worcester Joseph Petty, gave him in recognition of his contributions to the arts worldwide.

“The mayor of Worcester gave me a key to the city. I had to present it to Nana Addo. I wanted Nana to know since he is the President and ruling us with peace, harmony, I want him to know I am one of the sons who will raise the name of Ghana high…,” he said.
